General Theological Seminary Alumni Event 2014

The GTS Alumni Gathering 2014 is cancelled.

Instead, we call all Alumni/ae who are able to come to Chelsea Square on November 5 & 6 to be present for:

• The ratification of elections to the Alumni/ae Executive Committee and Board of Trustees. You will be receiving notification regarding voting in the elections on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.
• A facilitated conversation among graduated alumni/ae
• The Memorial Eucharist

Facilitated Conversation: The Alumni/ae of the General Theological Seminary are a constituent part of the entire mission of the seminary. We have a stake in the future of General and therefore we have a stake in the decisions that have been made. Our voices are valuable, our voices are necessary, our voices and our perspectives need a space, and they need to be heard. We intend to hold a conversation for graduated alums only on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 2:00 p.m. The Rt. Rev. Allen Shin, '96, Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of New York will facilitate our conversation. We have asked the Dean, members of the Board of Trustees and faculty members to exclude themselves from this conversation that we might have a free space to share. A summary of our conversation will be shared with the Dean, the Board of Trustees and the Faculty.

The Annual Memorial Eucharist (no organ) at GTS will be held on Thursday, November 6 at 10:10 a.m. The Distinguished Alumni/ae Award will be presented to the Rev. Peggy Muncie, '74 who will also preach. GTS graduates amazing women and men who have made and continue to make a lasting impact in the life of the church and beyond. Peggy Muncie is a testament to General's legacy and our recognition of her is an embodied witness of General's life and place in the church. The president and vice-president of the AEC will celebrate and assist.

After the Memorial Eucharist, a meeting of the Alumni/ae will be held to ratify elections.

Additionally, the Alumni/ae Executive Committee has requested a meeting with the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees during this time and they have agreed.

In order to stay able to respond to the fluidity of the situation and events as they unfold, a more concrete schedule will emerge and we will update you weekly.

The only cost involved in this event will be lunch, so if you have not already registered we need you to do so, so we will have a head count. Refunds will be issued to those who have already paid their registration fees.
